How are tutors chosen?

  • Tutors must either apply to the program or be nominated. If the tutor is nominated, they will still go through the same application process, but the nomination will help their application. In essence, the nomination serves as a recommendation from a teacher or administrator. All tutors have to submit the tutor application. The application is an extensive and detailed form that will help us assess whether the tutor is qualified to tutor the particular subject they chose. From asking about prior experience to asking about test scores and grades, this application helps us pick the most qualified candidates.  

How do I schedule a session with my tutor/mentee?

  • In order to schedule a session with your tutor/mentee make sure to have access to your Colēgia Outlook account. Through there you will be able to email your tutor/mentee. Using proper email etiquette email your tutor/mentee and find a time that works best for both of you. Once a date is scheduled, you may use the “schedule” feature on Zoom as well as the calendar feature on Outlook, which can be accessed through your Colēgia profile. For more information, please refer back to the “How-To” training module in the “tutors” tab.

Where do I report suspicious behavior?

  • To report suspicious behavior, you must first scroll to the bottom of this page and find the “Report“ link. Once you click on the option, you will be redirected to a form. At this point, you must provide the necessary information and describe the incident in as much detail as possible. Once submitted, we will take proper measures to handle the situation.

How can I change my tutors/mentees?

  • If for any reason you wish to change tutors or mentees please email us at: “freyes@academica.org”. In the email, provide us with the person’s name, and why you wish to change your tutor/mentee. We will get back to you as soon as possible!

Where can I add a course?

  • Whether you’re a tutor or a mentee, you must first go to your respective section tab. If you’re a tutor, go to the tutor tab. If you’re a mentee, go to the mentee tab. Under both of these tabs you will find an option that says, “Subject modification request.” When you click that option you will be redirected to a form. Once you’re there, you must fill out and submit the form. Afterwards, we will evaluate your request, make necessary changes, and get in touch with you in the following days.
